Case studies / Product strategy
Turning complex research into clearer decisions.
Helping a creative research business connect its product, reporting and delivery guidance around one idea: put the recommendation first and keep its evidence close.
- Client
- A creative research and advertising effectiveness company
- Our contribution
- Product strategy, UX and UI design, interactive prototyping and reporting design
- Delivered
- Working prototypes, an experience system and reusable creation and review workflows
The approach
Start with the decision. Keep the evidence close.
- Decide What should happen next?
- Understand Why is that the recommendation?
- Inspect What evidence supports it?
Research creates value when people can use it to make a decision. For this business, that meant helping brands and agencies understand which advertising to progress, what to change and why.
The challenge
Plenty of evidence. A harder path to action.
The existing platform brought together human research and AI predictions about advertising effectiveness. Scores, benchmarks, diagnostic measures and creative evidence all had a role to play. The challenge was deciding what someone needed to see first.
Brand and agency stakeholders needed a recommendation. Analysts needed to examine its foundations. Internal teams needed a consistent way to explain findings, while engineers needed clear requirements for the experience.
A clearer screen was only part of the answer. The same thinking needed to carry through the product, client presentations and the way future work would be created and reviewed.
The approach
Organise the experience around the decision.
Working alongside the client’s team, we established a common sequence: the decision, the explanation, the supporting evidence, then the deeper detail. People could start with what mattered to them and inspect the reasoning as needed.
In the report prototypes, recommended actions appeared before dense analysis. Clear recommendations helped people understand what to do next. A decision about an individual advert stayed distinct from a judgement about the whole campaign.
Human research and AI predictions could sit within a shared experience while retaining their method and provenance. Bringing evidence together should help people interpret it without obscuring how it was produced.
Making it tangible
Prove the thinking in working examples.
Interactive campaign and creative prototypes explored how people find, compare and inspect advertising without losing their place. Recommendations stayed connected to source material, with deeper evidence available when the user needed it.
The same approach shaped client reporting: what was tested, what happened, why it happened and what should happen next. Reusable presentation patterns connected findings and recommendations to the evidence behind them.
Survey review offered another practical test. The prototype brought wording, translations, routing rules and respondent previews into one workspace, with a documented approval model tied to a specific survey version.
Making it reusable
Give the team a reference they can build on.
We captured the principles in an experience system that combined documentation with interactive examples. It explained the user’s task, the expected behaviour and the criteria for reviewing the result, alongside the visual conventions.
We packaged the guidance into reusable skills for large language models (LLMs), supporting four agentic workflows for creating and reviewing product flows and presentation decks. These were designed to improve delivery speed and output consistency by giving AI agents the same guidance, examples and review criteria as the team.
Engineering handoff guidance translated the reference prototypes into requirements for the client’s existing frontend. Exploratory choices remained distinguishable from validated patterns and adopted standards.
What the work created
A shared way to make and evaluate the next decision.
The engagement created an inspectable foundation for future product and reporting work: a documented experience system, working reference prototypes, reusable decision-document patterns and creation and review workflows.
Together, these give the team concrete examples and criteria to build from, discuss and improve. Product strategy is expressed in working interfaces and presentations, with guidance that makes the thinking reusable.
These are delivered design and reference capabilities. Production adoption and measurable business impact have not been established for this case study.
- Product principles and interactive reference examples

Ryland’s contribution covered product and experience strategy, UX and UI design, interactive prototyping, reporting design and reusable delivery guidance, alongside the client’s team. The research science, prediction models and existing platform were the client’s foundations.
